Coupon the Lazy Way – Get the Deals with Less Time Investment

Lazy Coupon Deals

I couldn’t be called a Crazy Coupon lady by any stretch of the imagination.  I went through a time where I couponed like a champ and really got some crazy awesome hauls.  It just wound up being a bit more of a time investment than what I felt was sustainable for me.  In short…  I got lazy.

I did keep a couple great habits though.

Grocery Store Ad checking

Checking grocery store ads is easier than ever.  No more need to subscribe to newspapers or keep print ads that clutter up your counter top.  I live in a small community with 2 local grocery stores that have their ads available online.  It’s easy for me to zoom through the ads each Tuesday morning during my first cup of coffee jotting down the sales that I may want to take advantage of throughout the week.

Sometimes I will run in and grab what I need but often I find that I need other things that I would find at Walmart for a lower price.  Walmart’s ad match policy comes in handy on these occasions.  I just take my list making sure to note the ad price and which store is offering the deal.  They usually have the ads available at checkout but if not, I just pull up the ad on my phone and they can check the price from there.

I also take advantage of WalMart’s Savings Catcher app.  I just scan in each receipt and they check other ads that I may have otherwise missed.  It isn’t big money, but it does add up!

Drug Store Ad Checking

Our Walgreens drug store in town is where I scored a lot of my couponing deals in the past.  I don’t put much time into that anymore but I found one site that is absolutely fabulous for finding a great deal.  The Krazy Coupon Lady site allows you to look up each store and even matches each deal with coupons for the best deal possible.  I don’t get the coupon circulars but Krazy Coupon Lady also find printable coupons.  So if I see anything we can use at a fabulous deal that has a printable coupon to match I am off to the races.  My stockpile is minimal but it’s nice to know there is an extra bottle of nice shampoo and whitening toothpaste in the closet so we don’t have to run out and pay full price at the last minute!

Have you found any great time savers in your savings game?  I’d love to hear them!

Some great tips here. It’s definitely a great way to save money but, as you say, it can be quite time consuming, so it’s working about working out a balance.

I don’t do a great deal of coupons, but if I’m buying something online, I always do a quick google check for voucher codes. I also buy all my kids’ clothes in the sale in the next size up so that I don’t have to panic buy when they suddenly have a growth spurt!

Vouchers for online shopping is a great idea. I never really think of doing that… must make mental note! And I’m right with you on shopping ahead for the kiddos. I really love summer yard sales. You can find nearly new clothes for so much lower than in stores. Plus it’s just fun to get out and go to them.

I love coupons.. I got lazy too lol! I was so good when I was pregnant and had so many stacked up which really came in handy. Two kids later I even forget to use the little amount of coupons I even have! But like yourself, I always make sure I look for the supermarket deals. :) #ablogginggoodtime

I was absolutely super mom for at least part of each pregnancy. The kiddos once they are here and little take the drive away. It’s great to still be able to find really great deals without so much time being spent.

      Thanks for stopping by!

I always try to make the most of various supermarket deals, but like you I just find the time investment a bit too much for my lazy brain haha! #ablogginggoodtime
