So, making waffles a lot and going through a good bit of waffle mix means a good deal of savings when I would normally buy the mix at the store! So having a diy mix is great for my budget, not to mention that it removes all of the additives and preservatives that are in a store bought mix. So off to find a recipe I went and since my pancakes turn out an absolute flop I was super excited that the Pancake mix recipe I found on Super Healthy Kids worked great for waffles as well. I adapted it a bit to fit my family’s tastes and I hope you love it as well.
Homemade Pancake & Waffle Mix
- 5 Cups white flour
- 1/4 cup powdered milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/8 Cup baking powder
- 1 TBL salt
Store in an air tight container. I love glass canning jars and use them to store all of my premixes. They make my shelves look so pretty!
Now when you are ready to use it is just as easy as any mix you buy in the stores!
When ready to mix pancakes use:
- 1 1/2 cup pancake mix
- 1 cup water
- 2 TBL canola oil
- 1 egg
- Optional items: I many times will toss in a couple heaping tablespoons of flax seed meal or chia seeds. The kiddos love chocolate chips added, or any fruit that suits your fancy
Then into the greased waffle iron or frying pan it goes.
